Chalean EXtreme!!

I completed the 1 burn circuit today! My back and forearms are tight and the maximum weight I used was 2 17lb dumbbells. The clutch behind the workout is the "extreme" mode in which you do three long, slow, and grueling reps to build up resistance and rescuplt your muscles. I can't review this fairly because I have only done this once. My arms are sore but, I felt like the 35 minutes of the burn circuit didn't have enough sets. This disc, which is part of a collection of workouts by Chalean, focused mostly on deltoids and back muscles. If I must say so, I am more of an ab and lower body girl. Do I think I burned enough calories to have a burger or a beer? No, but I did build muscle in my arms and I do think this workout system is great for someone with low muscle tone or losing weight because it gives you a workbook and a calender to track you effort.

In summation, I like the fact it has more of a body building theme and I will try the next circuit. As I, personally, am not looking to slim down but to maintain my weight, keep an athletic body, and tone up it was suitable. I think people can get the results it promises but, you have to bring it all to the table! You must increase the amount of lbs your lifting and that takes serious work! If you like to mix up and keep your workout schedule fresh it might not be a good program because most of the workouts have the same warm-up and set-up. Therefore, this could easily become a tedious workout. I'll let you know how I feel about this after a couple more workouts. Until then, check her out online and see if this program is right for you!! <3

Workout One-on-One Training with Jackie

Get healthy and look beautiful with Jackie Warner's One-on-One training DVD!
I finished the ab and lower body section yesterday, which was a total of 40 minutes. The DVD is great and it reaches my standards. I like a workout DVD that pushes me to the point of either drowning in my sweat or waking up without the ability to walk! Ok, so I am still walking but, my abdominals are sore and I know they got a workout. The only con in this program is that the crew goes fast and it feels unstructured. I like to know how many reps or sets I am doing and I believe slower movement works your muscles harder. In this workout there is no counting; you do each move for either a full 60s or 30s regardless of how many repetitions you meet and you keep a fast pace. Overall, I will be doing this DVD again and I recommend it for toning. It incorporates cardio section and expect to do squats! Not bad Jackie, 4 out of 5 stars!!

Know your Roots!

Last year I got hooked on this delicious root vegetable soup. Oddly, it reminds me of my mothers homemade chicken soup without the fat and chicken! It is savory, sweet and salty! But, believe it or not the recipe calls for a single can of stock and the soup doesn't taste bland or watery. The boyfriend loves this and the left overs held up nicely. I say, don't skimp on any of the ingredients and if you have extra vegetables don't be scared to dump it in the pot. This soup is an ideal comfort food loaded with minerals.

Ingredients
1 onion, chopped
4 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 garlic clover, cut in half
1 parsnip, peeled and diced
2 carrots, peeled and diced
1 turnip, peeled and diced
1 celery root, peeled and diced
1 fennel, diced
1 leek, washed and thinly sliced
1 rutabaga, peeled and diced
1 (15 ounce) can Veg broth

1/3 cup barley

4 cups of water
1/3 cup cilantro, washed and chopped
salt and pepper

Directions

In a large pan add all of the ingredients boil, then simmer for about 40 minutes or until barely is soft .
